Registration is Now Open for the Grad Student APA and Writing Workshops

The St. Kate's Libraries and the O'Neill Center are presenting two intensive workshops for graduate students on APA and effective writing strategies on Saturday, February 13 and 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. Both workshops, running concurrently, are offered each weekend so students can attend one or both sessions.

Space is limited and registration is required. Participation is on a first-come, first-serve basis so don't delay!

Unfortunately we have to cancel the RefWorks workshop scheduled for November 21.

There may be workshop opportunities in the Spring, so keep an eye out for those.

Nov. 14 APA Workshop, spots available

The St. Kate's Library is offering our popular APA Workshop on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 at the St. Paul Campus Library (Room 110). This is our intensive workshop on APA-related topics for graduate students, including: citing electronic sources in APA style, in-text citations, paraphrasing and other strategies to avoid plagiarism.

Space is limited, but some spots have recently opened up for the Nov. 14 Workshop, so we're looking for more participants. Go to the APA Workshop page to learn more and sign up.

Learn how to use this web-based bibliographic management software that allows you to store and organize your citations, and, produce a reference list in any citation style.

Learn to use RefWorks!


Learn to use RefWorks like a pro!!

The Library will offer an introductory workshop on using RefWorks on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 4:30 in Room 110 of the St. Paul Library.

What is RefWorks, you ask?? It's a great tool for helping to organize the references you find for your research. With a few mouse clicks, you can use RefWorks to format your sources in APA, MLA, or any other citation style. Pretty slick!

APA Workshop for Grad Students

Our APA Citation Workshop for Grad Students is back by popular demand! Do you have a basic familiarity with APA, but need help additional help with:
  • citing online sources in APA style
  • incorporating sources into your paper
  • strategies to avoid plagiarism

APA Workshop for St. Kate's Graduate Students on November 8

Registration is now open for "APA: A la carte," and APA workshop for graduate students to be held Saturday, November 8 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Coeur de Catherine lower level (downstairs from the library).

Presented by St. Kate's librarians, topics will include writing tips, formatting, and citing sources in APA style, and strategies to avoid plagiarism.  An optional hour-long RefWorks workshop will follow at 12:30 in Library 110.

This is not an introductory APA workshop; familiarity with APA guidelines is assumed. Any student currently enrolled in a St. Kate's graduate program is invited to attend. RefWorks Workshops

RefWorks is a citation manager that can help keep you organized and create bibliographies when you are writing papers. When you find articles in a database, you click a button to send all of their citation information to your RefWorks account. When you have gathered all of the citations you will use in your paper, you click a button and choose a citation style, and RefWorks formats your bibliography. RefWorks accounts are available to all St. Kate's students and can save you hours of time and lots of energy.
