Digital Public Library of America

Today, we're welcoming a new member to the world wide library scene- the Digital Public Library of America. It is exactly what it sounds like, a gigantic digital public library - with photographs, documents, artifacts, sounds, and more-  from educational institutions and libraries all across the United States, making them freely available for people across the globe.

It launched this afternoon. So far, there are over two million different items to be searched, with complete bibliographic records on each one. Their searching process is very user friendly and clever, too, letting patrons search via location, or using an interactive timeline, as well as the good old search bar method.

Be sure to check back frequently on this wonderful new resource, as it's collection is sure to grow!

Our very own Derham Hall is in the database!
