Poem in Your Pocket Day is a project from the Academy of American Poets to raise awareness of poetry as part of National Poetry Month.
At St. Kate's, longtime English instructor Melinda Lockhard is organizing a local Poem in Your Pocket Day. On Thursday, April 18th, watch your roaming poetry lovers and get a poem to read. Poetry lovers will be in bright green t-shirts across campus with bags of poems to slip into your pocket. Some of the poems distributed are previous winners of the Library's Haiku Contest. In addition to random poetry, a number of events will take place on campus to celebrate Poem in Your Pocket Day.
On Twitter, look for the hashtag #pocketpoem; the Library will be showcasing some recent haikus @stkateslibrary.
Read a poem, share a poem.
