Beginning June, 2014, Macalester College Library materials can no longer be requested via CLICnet, but instead should be requested via Interlibrary Loan.
Recently, the CLIC library consortium conducted a process to select a new integrated library system. During this process, Macalester selected a different vendor. We cannot integrate Macalester’s system into ours, so Macalester’s content will no longer be findable via CLICnet. If you find an item you want from Macalester, request it via Interlibrary Loan.
Via Interlibrary Loan, we don’t anticipate too much of a difference in the time frame for when you receive items held at Macalester. Journal articles and book chapters typically come via email within two business days; physical materials should also arrive within two business days.
If you have any questions about this, or if you need help requesting items, contact a librarian.

Coming Soon! A New Way to Search
Summon is a new library search engine to help you find books, articles, databases, website, help guides, and more.
What is it?
The Summon search box allows you to type in one search to retrieve:
- books (at St. Kate's and other CLIC libraries)
- articles in journals (full-text and links to full-text when available)
- databases to do more in-depth searches
- help guides created by St. Kate's librarians
- websites
- multimedia (including videos and streaming videos)

How will this change things?
- Summon will replace WorldCat Local.
- CLICnet will still be available.
- Librarians will still be available!
When will all these changes happen?
- After finals
- The last week in May 2014
- Before Summer Session
- Stay tuned for new and improved search in fall 2014!

New Look! Navigating the new homepage
By now you've noticed that the Libraries' homepage looks a little different. A new search box will help you navigate and find the tools you need. All resources are still available via the new search box and the drop-down menus above.
The biggest difference you will notice is the switch to WorldCat, a search tool that allows you to search for books at St. Kate's, at the other ACTC libraries, and worldwide libraries, as well as articles in databases. Of course, you can always search the old catalog, CLICnet.
Any questions or comments? Please post to this blog, Facebook, or email librarynews@stkate.edu

Renewing Books in CLICnet
The Libraries have received comments that it's difficult to figure out how to renew books in the new CLICnet. We agree, the process is not very obvious. To renew books, check your holds, or access other functions of your account, follow these steps:
- Click on the Login link at the very top right of the screen
- Enter your name and barcode number. (Your barcode is the 14-digit number on the back of your St. Kate's ID card)
- It will look like nothing has happened, but the very top of the screen will now say "Welcome, Your Name"
- Click on the My Account link at the top right of the screen -- you will now be in the My Account page in CLICnet Classic
- From here you can renew your books, check your holds, etc.

CLICnet has a new look!
There is a new, simpler, look to CLICnet, the library's catalog, plus some new features. Now it's easy to refine your searches by format, location, date, or language. Plus, you can manage books you find by adding ratings or tags to books and creating reading lists. Try it out!
Also: Looking for books or other materials located at St. Catherine University? Look for the new location code: SCU.
(And if you want, you can always get to the older CLICnet using the "Classic catalog" link.)
