On the new KateWay, everyone's timeout period was set to the default of 15 minutes. This creates problems if you use KateWay to get to the Library's web site and databases. The system does not consider time spent on the Library, databases, or CLICnet web pages as KateWay activity, and will try to end your session after 15 minutes. As a result you can be kicked out of the search you are in, losing all your results.
To help prevent this, make your session timeout period longer. Click the Change Timeout link at the top left of KateWay, next to your name, to change the value. You can increase it up to 60 minutes.
Thanks so much for the tip! I was just getting ready to work on a searching project; it is nice to know that I won't lose the search history! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this information! Timeouts are so frustrating. I would suggest that you post this in The Wheel as well to spread the word about this useful function.
